Google and Meta are both internally testing personal AI agents - codenamed "Remy" and "Hatch" - designed to handle everyday tasks on their own, a direct response to the lead built by Anthropic and OpenAI. Google shut down its browser agent project Mariner to focus on the effort. The market is shifting away from browser agents toward integrated assistants that live inside email, calendars, and shopping platforms.
